Ty Plays EA Sports College Football 25

I bought the standard version of "College Football 25", so that meant that today was the day I have been waiting for for 11 years. Let’s discuss.

I'm not a video game guy. I have told everyone I know, including readers of this site and listeners of the podcast that very thing. Growing up I was the youngest of four, so I did not get to play our Nintendo very often. My friends, when I was younger, we all wanted to play the actual sport. We played video games here and there, but it always ended with us replaying the game in real life outdoors. So, the fact that I have been this amped for a video game to come out should speak volumes to how long this wait has felt for me. I have been watching all the people play the game online that ordered it early, and it only made me more excited. I got up this morning and had some things to take care of, so I downloaded it while I was out. I was hoping to get started on it before noon, but I had to wait until 1pm. Again, that was all well and good. I was thinking about the game, but I hadn't played it just yet. So, around 1pm I fired up the PlayStation and immediately turned the game on.

I played half an exhibition to get used to the controls and then it was on to Dynasty Mode. This is what I love most about this game. I get to control everything that Michigan does on and off the football field. So, I got that going, and it is ongoing as we speak, and I could not be happier.

This, for me, is the greatest video game that has ever been created. The gameplay is smooth and easy. It is akin to "Madden", but the playbooks are much larger and the game is much faster. You also get all the pomp and circumstance that comes with the college football atmosphere. From the fight songs to the crowd chants, it is all there. The uniforms look just like the teams. They have alternates for the teams that use those. The players' names are front and center. This is new, and it is rad. In older versions of this game they couldn't use players' names. The names were the position and the number, i.e. QB #16. Now, when I fired up my dynasty with Michigan, I saw names I knew, on both offense and defense. There was no HB #7, it read D.Edwards, for Donovan Edwards. My elite corner was not DB #2, it was W. Johnson, for Will Johnson. That, for me, is the coolest new aspect. They have the main college football announcers. We have Rece Davis, David Pollack and Jesse Palmer calling the games. They have teams' entrances down pat. Michigan comes out for every home game and they smack that banner. That is here in the game. When I played Washington earlier, they had their husky dog run on the field. I'm sure Clemson touches the rock and Oklahoma has their Schooner.

This game truly feels like it has it all for all college football fans. The game play is smooth like I said, but also realistic. I know I keep mentioning Michigan, but that is the team I play with. And they have it spot on. Alex Orji is fast, but inaccurate. Will Johnson is elite and the computer barely throws his way. Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant eat up o lineman. Donovan Edwards is fast, but goes down easy. Jaishawn Barnham is a heavy hitter. It feels like I am controlling a real football game. I feel like a coach. I am up here in my home playing this game and motioning for first downs or telling the opposing team I held them on third and it is now fourth down. I'm a 41 year old father of two. That is crazy.

"NCAA Football 25" is everything I hoped it would be. This is the exact game I wanted and I couldn't be happier. It is back although it almost feels like it was never gone. I'm ecstatic. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go play some more. What an incredible game. Well done EA Sports.

Ty Watches the Trailer for "EA Sports College Football 25"

I think I have watched the trailer for the new college football team about a dozen times now. I am so very, very excited for this to come out in the world. I had my doubts. You can go back and read about said doubts. I had heard rumors for years and years, to no avail. And there was hiccup after hiccup when the game was officially announced. I didn't know if the players would give approval. When they did I thought the universities might have some issues. Then I thought EA was going to try and pull something.

But it is really real. It is coming. They have a trailer. The cover athletes have been announced, the cover has come out, the players have talked about it and we have live footage of the actual game play. And the trailer makes this game look as amazing as I have always remembered it being.

This looks like an actual football game. It does not have the video game stuff that I have grown accustomed to. I'm sure that once I play it some stuff will come up, but I don't even care at this point. They have the team entrances down pat. They have the rivalry trophies. They have the players' names on the back of their jerseys. They have the uniforms looking as clean as ever. Chris Fowler's voice is doing the voiceover for the trailer. They play some Guns N Roses to get you all pumped up. Hell, even when they show Wyoming kicking the ball off, I got major goosebumps. I did go on the Playstation website to do a possible pre order, but they only do it digitally. I'm so hype for this game, I want the physical copy. I want to see the players on the cover. I want to hold the actual game in my hands. I want the disc that lets you play the game. I want to see the inside of the game. I want the paper that comes with the physical copy. I am even contemplating buying a new Michigan themed controller. It has the design of the helmet on the controller. I know that is opulent, but at this point, all of that goes out the window when I am thinking about playing this video game.

July 19th cannot come quick enough. I am not going to wait in a line or anything, that is not me, but I plan on playing this game on that date. I will go to multiple stores if I have to. I will find this game. I am not a video game guy, but college football is another animal. This is the only video game I have ever truly cared about in my life. It is the only one that I have ever been good at in my life. I cannot wait to create a player. I'm going to build a dynasty out of Michigan in franchise mode. I will recruit and use NIL with the best of them. I will challenge my son to games. My wife used to play a bunch, and she has mentioned playing around with the game here and there.

This trailer is the best trailer to come out in a long, long time. It has me super excited, as well as millions of other people. So, we just need the 19th of July to come. Until then, I will be watching this trailer a million more times.

Ty Wants to Play EA Sports College Football 25

Well, after eleven years and seemingly endless roadblocks, NCAA Football from EA Sports is finally coming out this summer. I am beyond excited.

This is the one and only video game that I have ever been really good at, and that I enjoy playing. RD and I used to play this game a ton when we lived together. When my wife and I started dating this was the video game I showed her when she asked if I liked playing video games. I've talked to my son about this game as being the only video game that I have ever truly liked. And the fact that it is coming back has been extra pumped.

I have watched the trailer multiple times already. RD texted me this morning to let me know the news, and I almost didn't believe him at first. As I said, I had heard the rumors. I bought into the rumors. I have been ready ever since the last version came out. When they announced that they were going to stop making the game, I would go on my Xbox and buy the old version to play. I played it a ton at the start of the pandemic because I still had the old version. But it fully went away on my Xbox a few years ago. I tried to search for it in the store to no avail. I heard that you could buy a version of the game, but it was wildly expensive, and you had to have way more computer knowledge than I have ever had in my life. I tried to buy games that the reviewers said were similar, but it was not the real thing. Not even close. So I have been just waiting.

My son will ask me from time to time what video game I would buy if I could buy any game. I have always told him it is NCAA Football. And I was going to wait for it to come back before I bought a new game. I don't care if I have to buy a new system. I hope they have it for Xbox, but if I need to get a Playstation, I'm going to be more than ready to have that talk with the family. If I need to upgrade my Xbox, you better believe that is in the cards.

When I get this game, you better believe I'm going to play it until I'm as good as I used to be. I will sit down and give this video game my attention. I will take my beloved Wolverines and keep them at the top of the college football world. I will jump back into the dynasty version. I'll figure out the transfer portal. I'll do the recruiting. I'll find the plays that work best. I'll make my team a fun run and gun squad. I'll have an attacking and menacing defense. Punts, never heard of them. I will challenge any and all comers. RD can tell you about my prowess with this game. I used to beat his super teams he'd create with Michigan. This is my game. I love it. I'm here for it.

I am so ready, willing and able to play. I am so stoked. I cannot wait. When the next update comes in May I'll be waiting with bated breath. And when the game comes out, I'll be getting it on release day. This is good news and I have never been this ready for a new video game to come out. This is rad.
