Ty Reads "Dumb Ideas"

Over the holiday break I decided that I wanted to get back to reading more books. I put about five or six different books on my list, and like a stroke of good luck I got most of them. Now, when I say books I'm not talking about the stuff we read in school or what is in popular demand. I like comedy books. I like books on photography. I enjoy real life sports stories. These are the types of books I like to read. One such book that I put on my list and hoped to get was "Dumb Ideas" written by Dan Curry and Eric Andre.

I, as you all know by now, am a big time Eric Andre fan. I love his talk show, I'm a fan of "Bad Trip" and his new podcast has fast become one of my must listens when a new episode comes out. I also enjoy seeing him pop up tv shows and movies that I did not know he was going to be involved in. So, a new book about his pranking written with his writing partner, sign me up.

I loved this book. I am not a fast reader, but it only took me a little over a week to finish. I would find myself cracking up while reading. But he also put some nice stuff in there too, especially about his mom. But make no mistake, he always buttons the nice stuff with a very solid joke. The way the book works out, Curry and Andre take turns writing different chapters about their lives, their ventures on "The Eric Andre Show" and any other stuff they find funny. I enjoyed reading about how Andre got into the pranking world. It seemed like he was destined for it from what I read, but it was still pretty cool to see where it all started. I also liked reading him write about finding himself in the prank world. Curry would follow this up with how he almost fell into this world. He had other plans, but pranks would always pull him back in. I also enjoyed both of them giving their takes on the shenanigans behind the scenes on "The Eric Andre Show". I loved hearing about the people who worked there and who Curry and Andre trusted. One of my all time favorite pranks on the show was when Andre went to a MENSA meeting dressed in full knight armor. I laugh every time I watch that. Well, they did full chapters about that whole situation. It was awesome. There is a big chapter on Kraft Punk, one of the best characters on the show. Kraft Punk is a menace, and they give the reader all kinds of details. It is epic. They talk a whole lot about them crashing the 2016 RNC. That was funny/terrifying. We get a full Andre chapter about the odyssey of "Bad Trip". There is so much more to that story than I ever knew. Reading about each season of the talk show and the styles Andre tried to go with, that seemed harrowing. We even get to read about both guys' ventures in college, and how much they rip on that. There are also fake quotes from made up philosophers. They give the reader pranks to try if they seem wild enough to go for them. And there are nonsensical emails between Andre and his mom that are pretty hilarious.

"Dumb Ideas" is a very good, very funny and wonderful read. I highly recommend this book to fans of Andre's career and want to hear from his writing partner as well. It is worth your time.

Ty Watches Eric Andre Live

Last night I went to see Eric Andre at The Factory on his new tour. Last night was the second night of the tour, so I did not know what to expect. I also did not know if it was going to be a standup thing or something else. It was most definitely something else, and that is a very good thing.

The tickets for the show said that the doors opened at 6 and the show started at 7. They were spot on. Eric Andre had an opener, DJ Douggpound, and he came on stage at 7pm sharp. He was very funny. I enjoyed his 20 minute set quite a bit. DJ Douggpound act is his standup with him playing some music underneath it. He was also on Eric Andre's new podcast recently, so it was nice for me to see him perform after hearing him talk about some not so fun performances. What I liked most about his set was how much fun he seemed to have with it all. He had some great jokes that were buttoned with some funny song clips. When he would play old songs but add in different words, that cracked me up. I also liked him pitching voices up and down. That was pretty hilarious as well. I also liked him coming on stage skateboarding. It was whimsy for me. DJ Douggpound also writes for Eric Andre's show, so he was a perfect opener.

After he was done, there was a five minute break and then Eric Andre came roaring to the stage. When I said that this was different from a standup show of his, that was made incredibly apparent from the start. This was a live version of "The Eric Andre Show". He came on stage and immediately destroyed his desk. He then proceeded to throw food at the crowd and spray them with water. I was sitting in the balcony, safe from all the carnage, so it was pretty hilarious to watch. After going off for a bit, he started the show. His co-host for the night was the Fridge Keeper. People who know know that the Fridge Keeper was introduced on the most recent season of the show. The Fridge Keeper is like the Crypt Keeper, except he lives in the fridge and he raps. I adore the Fridge Keeper. From there on out the show was mayhem. He invited an attendant of the show as his first guest. Andre messed with his phone and talked to his mom. He invited a different person on stage and tried to seduce them like Janet Jackson did on her recent tour. It was wild. We all saw his butt. When he called the first guest's mom, we all got to speak with her. She was a delight. At one point he blended a bunch of McDonald's and fed it to some crowd goers. He used a kiss cam which changed nearly instantly to a calculus cam. He had a few more people come on stage and do a ranch dressing chugging contest. When he couldn't pick a winner, he made them freestyle rap while sucking on hot sauce ice cubes. He then had his second guest, Clownvis, come on stage. He did an interview with Clownvis. He told Clownvis to kiss the Fridge Keeper. He had him drink wine and coffee mixed together. He asked Clownvis to sing his famous song, which happened to be a Christmas song. He messed with Clownvis, which delved into messing with the crowd. He did it all. The show ended with him and Clownvis singing a song, and then he walked on stage bottomless to bow to all of us.

This was a whirlwind of an hour. I leaned over to my buddy about halfway through and asked, "how long is he going to be able to keep this up?". The answer was an hour, and it was a perfect amount of time. You can tell he is still trying to figure out how to put this show on, but I had an absolute blast seeing him live last night. The last time he was in STL he had to cancel, so this was a long time coming for me. I am a humongous Eric Andre fan, so seeing him live was a big deal to me. He delivered. I was in awe of what I saw last night. It was weird and gross and exactly what I hoped a live version of his tv show could be. I had a great time and I highly recommend seeing this show if he comes to your town. It is unlike any other live comedy show that I have seen, and that is a very good thing. It was a great time.

Ty Listens to "Bombing with Eric Andre"

About a week ago I started to listen to Eric Andre's new podcast, "Bombing With Eric Andre". Let’s discuss.

I'm an Eric Andre fan. He is coming to STL in October and you better believe that I am planning on going. I love his talk show. I love the prank stuff he does. I'm always pumped when he shows up in bit roles in movies I'm watching. He was one of the better parts in the very underrated show, "Man Seeking Woman". I enjoy the content Eric Andre creates. So him having a podcast was a no brainer for me. I subscribed to it instantly and have listened to the first four episodes happily.

He has had three comedians, Michelle Buteau, Sam Jay and David Gborie, and one musician, Mac DeMarco. Each episode just gets better and better and funnier. The whole concept of the podcast is interviewing his friends and asking three questions, what's the worst you've bombed, what's the worst bombing you've seen and what's the most wasted you've ever been on stage. Then Andre and the guest go on long tangents while answering each question. I love it. He gets these people to be fully open with him and their stories are wild. Buteau talking about performing in Jamaica seemed wild and terrifying. The stuff Sam Jay talked about, like going on stage after doing mushrooms, or seeing two dudes physically fight on stage, that had to be something to experience. Gborie, who writes for his show, had some of the craziest stories I have ever been privy to hear. The stories he told sounded fake, but how could one make this stuff up? Those have been the most eye opening. And DeMarco's stories had a fully different feel because he has totally different experiences being a musician. With each episode though you learn about the grind and the craziness it takes to get to the level these people are at right now. To make it where they have made it, and seeing what they have seen, going through what they have gone through, is nuts, but it is always funny. You can tell that the guests and Andre have a blast with one another. You can hear the friendship. You can tell they vibe easily off each other. Andre has this way of making his guests feel at ease, even when they are talking about the wildest shit I've ever heard. I also like how loose the interview is. It flows, it has the three questions, but Andre is clearly having fun with it. He doesn't take it too seriously, and that is how it should be. That is what I like about the podcasts that I listen to.

I didn't need more reasons to be an Andre fan. He won me over years ago. But this new podcast has made me an even bigger fan. I cannot wait for each week because that means a new episode is coming. "Bombing With Eric Andre" is fast becoming one of my favorite podcasts. It is a must listen as soon as it downloads. Check this pod out. It is wonderful.

Ty Watches "Jackass Forever"

For date night last week my wife and I finally saw "Jackass Forever". And before you think it was all my pick, my wife enjoys a good prank and bodily harm movie. We both like wild movies like this. "Bad Trip" was a godsend for the two of us. We both also used to watch the show, we have recently watched the original movie, which we also showed our son in a moment of wonderful parenting, and we both really wanted to see this. We tried to go to the theater but we just couldn't find the time. Then when it went to streaming it was only on Paramount +, which we do not subscribe to. But it was finally on VOD and it was only six bucks.

We jumped at the chance and we loved the movie. It was so funny. It was so wild. It made me think about the first time I saw the show. I was transported back 20 years in time. I was cackling like a maniac. We even let our son sit in on a few moments of the movie. He loved it as well. I could not believe that these guys could, and were willing, to do these things to themselves. It was crazy. They did a cup check yet again. This was one of their original bits and they brought it back. But instead of Johnny Knoxville letting little kids kick him in the crotch this time they let real, legit athletes test a cup on Danger Ehren. It looked and sounded like it hurt. They had an MMA fighter punch him in the crotch. Ehren's eyes looked dead when he was hit. They had the world's fastest softball pitcher pitch one into the cup. She nailed it after a few tries and it was glorious. They had PK Subban slap shot a puck into it. And they even let another "Jackass" member, Dave England, use a metal pogo stick and jump into him. It was all brutal. Ehren even ruptured a testicle. It was wild. They played a prank on a bunch of the cast members by making them think they were in a blacked out room with a venomous snake. My wife and I were cracking up. They did some cool stuff with the biggest slip and slide I have ever seen in my life. It was nuts. The opening scene was gross and hilarious. The stuff with Eric Andre and the cold brew truck was awesome. They got a ton of people with that one in fact. The tap dancing scene with Tyler, the Creator was dope. I am a big fan of his, so to see him in this movie was rad. The new cast members were good too. They had four or five new people and they were all game. They were all willing to go for broke and that is needed in a show like this. I also love that one of the new cast members got his dad involved, an ex-con who is terrified of snakes and birds, but did hard time. He was great.

The main point of today's piece, I cannot believe that most of the main crew is still around and still doing these things. Steve O went full bore like he never left. I mentioned Danger Ehren and Dave England. They brought back some old bits and let other cast members take them to task. Preston Lacy and Wee Man went for broke. They did things I do not think they would have even done back in the day. And Johnny Knoxville went for it all. He did a ton. He let himself get shot out of a cannon. He was involved in the vast majority of the pranks and stunts. He is still the ring leader. And he even brought back the bull stunt. And that bull knocked him out. He was so knocked out that he was snoring. He broke his wrist, ribs, got a brain hemorrhage and a concussion. And he still came back for more. I hope for these guys that this is the last one of these movies they make. They looked older and rough. They still had the gall, but most of the guys in the crew are in their late 40's or early 50's. I do not think their bodies can handle the damage anymore. It is too much. But I am glad they made this one. I hope they leave us with this one.

I enjoyed “Jackass Forever” quite a bit. So did my wife. And the little bit my son saw. "Jackass Forever" is a great trip back in time, and I highly recommend watching it.

Ty Watches "The Righteous Gemstones" Season 2

My wife and I just finished season 2 of "Righteous Gemstones" last night. Much like "Eastbound and Down" and "Vice Principals", "Righteous Gemstones" is another big time hit from Danny McBride and Jody Hill. I adore these guys and the content they make. I have recently sung the praises of "Eastbound and Down" and "Vice Principals" on this very site. I was very curious to see how they would do this season of "Righteous Gemstones" since it was filmed during the pandemic. Well, any fears I may have had were easily put to rest after the first episode.

This season was a great follow up to one of the most memorable seasons of TV ever. The first season of "Righteous Gemstones" was amazing. I thought it was going to be pretty hard to follow that up with anything close to what they had accomplished. Well I was wrong. They did an amazing job. They brought up new storylines while still keeping the story very dark and very comedic. I will try to keep the rest of my piece as spoiler free as possible.

When they opened season two, with a good amount of church people around a big table, there was some big news dropped on everyone and a guy tried to end his life, only to fail and hurt his legs very, very badly. From that point on I knew we were in for some wild and crazy times in the second season. This season more focused on Eli Gemstone's, John Goodman, checkered past. We found out about him being a wrestler and bodyguard and "gun for hire". Eli did some wild things back in his day. He was helped out by Junior, Eric Roberts, who was such a wonderful addition. He was funny with a mean streak and ended up becoming a big time ally. I loved seeing him and Goodman as kids and where they were now. It was great. Jesse and Amber mended their ways, but Jesse still wanted more. He wanted to become head preacher. He wanted to work with Eric Andre's, another massive and wonderful addition to the cast, church and their new development. Danny McBride is so good at playing a guy way in over his head but does not realize it. McBride was simply the best this season. Judy and BJ showed a ton of growth this season. They helped out Tiffany. Judy started to work with other wives in the church. BJ was accepted into the family by Eli and Jesse. There was also an awesome scene of BJ rollerblading this season. I highly recommend checking it out. Kelvin and Keefe were so pathetic and so funny and then, at the end, totally redeemed themselves. It was a great journey for them this season, especially the stuff with Kelvin and Eli. That was incredible.

As the season had its twists and turns, everything came to a head in the finale. And what a wonderful finale it was. I never seem to know how they are going to end this stuff. And with this season being nine episodes as opposed to the usual ten, they found a way to wrap things up nearly perfectly. Even the Jason Schwartzmann character, a journalist exposing these mega churches, had his story all wrapped up by the end.

I adore this show. I am so amped it is coming back for a third season. I think this may be McBride and Hill's best work to date. And the fact that they are giving actors like Edi Patterson, Adam Devine and Tim Baltz a chance to shine, I love that. And I cannot forget the greatness that is Walton Goggins. He is tremendous as Uncle Baby Billy. That character may be as great as Stevie Janowski. Uncle Baby Billy is amazing. Oh, and they even got MaCaulay Caulkin to appear in a few episodes. Please go watch "Righteous Gemstones". It may be the best show on TV right now.

Ty Watches "Bad Trip"

This past Friday was my turn to pick the movie for date night with my wife. We have managed to keep this up while we are staying with my folks, and it has been great. We go down in our room, close the door and my parents hang with the kids until we put them to bed. Awesome. So since it was my turn, and I have been in a comedy mood lately, I picked the movie "Bad Trip".

Now, a few things. I am a big time Eric Andre fan, my wife is not. I liked almost every iteration of "Jackass", my wife did not. I am a big fan of prank movies, my wife only likes a hand selected few. I was in dangerous territory, at least I thought. I picked the movie because I really wanted to see it. I have been wanting to see it since I saw the trailer. This was a movie, in pre COVID times, that I would have watched in a theater. And add in the fact that Lil Rel Howery and Tiffany Haddish were in it with Andre, I was fully on board. Obviously the movie did not make it to many theaters, but it was purchased by Netflix. So, I clicked on it and fully expected to love it, and fully expected my wife to be bored by it.

Well, we both loved it. This movie is absolutely hilarious. The fact that they were able to pull this off is amazing. That they could stage these pranks on unsuspecting people, people that did not know a movie was being made, incredible. Then to add a coherent story, a tip of the hat to everyone involved. The moment I knew that my wife was in, that she was going to enjoy herself, was when Andre appeared out of a bathtub to an unsuspecting plumber and he got freaked out. She was cackling, I was howling and she said, "this movie right here, this is my kind of prank movie!". I was even more smitten than I thought I could be with her. From there on out the movie is wild. The pranks are nuts. The people being pranked are very real getting pranked. They don't suspect a thing. We have the plumber, but there is oh so much more. They do a whole song and dance number in a mall that is wild. The stuff in the juice bar is great. When Howery and Andre steal Haddish's car, the guy working behind the counter just lets it happen.

The story of “Bad Trip” is a simple one too, but I should mention it. Andre and Howery are life long friends that are stuck in their middling jobs in podunk Florida. Andre's high school crush comes into the juice bar one day and invites him to her gallery opening in New York and he decides he needs to go and bring Howery with him. Haddish is Howery's older sister who has been in and out of jail and they take her car to New York. She tries to track them down. All the while these pranks are being played. There is a scene where Howery gets stuck in a porta potty that was outrageous. Andre and Howery get their members stuck in a finger trap. Haddish steals a cop car by ripping the door off the hinges. She fights people who will not give her any info she needs. At one point they superimposed a gentleman into a picture with Howery and Andre, and her interaction with this man is gold. Andre and Howery go to a country bar in the deep south and they are the only two African Americans there. Some hilarity ensues while they are at said bar, and a lot of it has to do with alcohol. The zoo stuff, that was just wrong and hilarious at the same time. This movie was everything I hoped it would be. I mean the very first scene involves Andre getting his clothes ripped off by a car vacuum cleaner, and he convinces the patron to give him his sweatshirt and to try and get a phone number for him. That is quintessential Eric Andre stuff.

I have nothing but good things to say about this movie. Yes it is cheesy and weird and goofy, but it is supposed to be. It is better than any "Jackass" movie in my opinion as well. This movie works. It is short and fast. It is hilarious. And it is coherent. Check this movie out. I think it will give Eric Andre the much needed respect he deserves for the humor her does, and Howery and Haddish totally commit to their roles. I loved it and I think you will too.

Ty Watches "The Eric Andre Show" Season Five Premiere

This past Saturday the season five premiere of "The Eric Andre Show" was on, and it was awesome, and weird and crazy and nutso and wild and what I have come to love and expect from his humor. I have been a fan of this show since a buddy of mine told me to watch it about five years ago. He knows that I like odd, weird humor, and he figured I'd like this different take on a talk show. He was right. I have watched every season of this show multiple times. When the pandemic first started, I ripped through the fourth season twice, and it took me about three weeks to do it. That is another thing I like about the show, it is twelve minutes long. It is an Adult Swim show, and the majority of their shows are weird and short. You can rip off five to six episodes in an hour. I love it. I had been anticipating the fifth season since I saw some ads for it appear on social media about a month or so ago.

One thing I really like, Andre sports a new hairdo and outfit each season. This season he is bald and wearing a full white suit. Hannibal Burress, his co host, calls him out on this, and Andre says he is doing a Vin Diesel thing this season. That made me laugh pretty hard. I also liked, in the premiere, there were two episodes, when Andre was going to do his monologue, he had people carry him on a pillow to the mic and proceeded to do some Street Fighter moves on them after they set him down. Buress called him out on this, and Andre said he was doing it for "opulence". That was the perfect word to use to describe what he was doing at that moment. Buress yelled at him, and made fun of him the whole monologue, and it was great. It was like slipping into some clean sheets. It made me comfortable to see this all again, especially now. From there on out, for both episodes, Andre tormented his guests and did cut away skits that made me laugh.

The first episode had Judy Greer and Adam Rippon as guests. Greer seemed freaked out the whole time, and Burress and Andre seemed to push her to the brink. They had errant hot dogs hit the set, Andre showed a video of his cleaning lady and asked her if she "ever punished herself". It was hilarious. With Rippon, Andre had a stagehand under the chair he sat on, and he had that stage hand continue to grab at him and scare him. Again, hilarious. With his cut aways, he did the Ranch guy, always a homerun, and played a UPS guy that had what seemed like a real rat on his shoulder and walked around the subway "looking for its owner". The musical guest was Anderson .Paak, who Andre had chugging a six pack and playing the drums. He called him Anderson 6 .Paak. I really liked it. This set the tone perfectly.

The second episode featured Burress actually quitting. The fans, we all knew this was coming and I was curious to see how they would do it. It was simple enough, with Buress simply saying, "I quit" and walking off stage. Not to be deterred, Andre took one of Buress' nose hairs, which he plucked and cloned him. His clone turned out a little wacky, and they called him Blanninbal Burress. The guests were a rapper named Saweetie, who they tormented by making the stage move without her knowing, and Shanola Hampton, who they raised in a chair and walked her around the room, like Bar Mitzvah style. They also scared her by making Andre literally fly when she gave him a high five. As for the pre taped segments, They did an ad for a psychoactive drug that "tastes like real lemon and lime" and Andre revised his Sprite daredevil guy. Both of these were funny and very well done. The episode ended with Andre's American Rap Ninja Warrior, where he takes lesser known rappers and makes them do a weird obstacle course while blindfolded. It was pretty damn funny.

I am glad that this show is back. I need this weird and wild humor in my life right now. It gave me twenty minutes of solid laughs. I am looking forward to the rest of the season, and I am pretty certain I will rewatch it the moment it is over. Hell, I have already watched the first two episodes multiple times. "The Eric Andre Show" is great, and I am stoked that it is back. Watch it.

Ty Watches "Holy Calamavote"

I watched the Run the Jewels show that they did on Adult Swim this weekend, "Holy Calamavote", this afternoon, and it was amazing.

This was the first, and only time, they will perform this album live this year. They had a planned tour, supporting Rage Against the Machine, but the pandemic put a total halt to that. I read things where RTJ was trying to do something like this, a live performance, but didn't have a platform, or felt comfortable enough to do it. Then Adult Swim and Ben and Jerry's got involved, and they had their chance. They got tested, quarantined for the allotted time, and were able to pull off this show. They also wanted it to be important, to take a stance and help people, and they used the platform to urge people to go out and vote. This show was put together to promote voting. They mentioned time and again how important it is, especially this year, to go out and vote. Our vote is our weapon, and that is the only way we can make things change. They put that front and center.

As for the performance, I mean come on, these guys are at the top of the game right now. They are the best rap group, and best overall group, making music right now. Not only is the music good, it is well made, important, personal and an absolute reflection of the world we live in right now. I have sung the praises of this most recent RTJ record to the high hills. This is the record of the year by a mile, and this performance only further proved that. They were awesome. The visuals were amazing. The guest list was top notch. And seeing Killer Mike and El-P perform this record live, it was so god damn amazing and impressive. They did each song, in order, from the new record. Eric Andre hosted the show, and they would cut to him from time to time, but this was all about RTJ and their music. All the songs were great, and hearing them live just adds so much more to the listening experience. DJ Nice was on stage with them during "Ooh LA LA". That was pretty cool. A famous Atlanta DJ came out and scratched during a song. Gangsta Boo came out during "Walking in the Snow", and that was a transcendent performance. I mean, the song started with that heavy guitar, and El did his verse, and then it was Killer Mike's turn. He smashed the first part, and when he got to the "I can't breath" part, the whole stage and group went silent, and then Killer Mike ended that verse acapella. It was powerful and moving and made me listen more than I ever had before to what he is saying in what I consider to be the song of the year, and possibly the generation. It was an astonishing performance. They did "JU$T" after that, and Pharrell and Zack de la Rocha did their spots. Josh Homme and Mavis Staples appeared on screen for the song they are featured on as well. Staples' voice was beautiful and haunting. They ended the show with "A Few Words for the Firing Squad", and to see the two of them bear their souls was so, so great. It was such a moving and cool and fierce and awesome and perfect way to present that song. When they were nearing the end, when the song is all horns, both members expressed the importance of voting and using our voices this election. Then El-P formed a fist and Killer Mike formed a gun to make the RTJ symbol, and the lights were on their hands only. It was so god damn cool. They proceeded to leave the stage with the secret ending that shows up at the end of "Firing Squad", and El grabbed his stuff, and both he and Killer Mike put on a mask and drove off in Killer Mike's car. They came back on to again express the importance of voting. It was truly wonderful. The show was cool, the visuals added so much, El-P and Killer Mike are damn fine performers, their music is important , the people filming were masked and kept their distance, all the while getting amazing shots, it was simply perfect.

I loved this so very much. It gave me so much of what I have missed this year. I got to see my favorite band perform live. I was moved to vote more so than I already am. I have even more respect for Michael Render and Jamie Melina, which I didn't know was possible. I got to vibe out to the best record of the year. And they did it all for a great cause. I highly recommend this special for everyone. It is available to watch everywhere, it is as live as we will get this year and it is the best music you will hear all year. Ty Watches Eric Andre's Comedy Special "Legalize Everything"

Last night I was able to sit down, finally, and watch Eric Andre's new stand-up special, "Legalize Everything".

I loved it, of course. I am a big time Andre fan. I have watched his talk show on Adult Swim multiple times. I loved his role on "Man Seeking Woman". Any time he pops up in a movie, even in a very small part, like in "Popstar", I always end up laughing. And one of the more upsetting live show misses for me was when I was supposed to see him in Saint Louis, but he had to cancel the show due to scheduling conflicts. He never rescheduled, and who knows what will happen with live shows given the current situation. I wished I had gotten to see him. But, luckily, I have all this other content of his to watch, and now this new stand-up special. Since I didn't get to see him live, this was my best case scenario. And as I said, I loved it.

Eric Andre is like the Tasmanian Devil of comedy. He is a total ball of energy on stage, but he can also turn on a dime and really slow things down and tell some funny ass stories. I also appreciated that it was just under one hour long. He gets in and out, and crushes while he is doing his show. The live show was what I wanted to see as well. I mentioned the energy, he has great jokes, he talks about deep stuff that he makes funny, and his crowd work is impeccable. I am going to spoil much because people need to check this out.

Andre is a bit different than most stand-ups out there today. He is so high energy and so wild and so crazy, but it is all done with a tremendous amount of humor. I also liked the cold open of the special where he pretended to be a police officer in New Orleans, where the special was taped, and he walked around getting high, giving people pills, telling people he took evidence, just doing everything illegal, and seeing real people have real reactions, it was like watching his talk show. He then proceeded to crush from the moment he stepped on stage. Oh, he also went through the crowd when he was introduced, and was yelling and getting everyone hyped up. It was great. When he took the mic, he talked about so many different things. He did a good chunk at the beginning about drug use, which was hilarious. He talked about smoking pot with his mom, his experience with MDMA, his one time Xanax trip at Coachella, the bad cocaine in NOLA. It was so funny. He then did a classic bit about the show "Cops", and how ridiculous that they have reggae music as their theme music. It is funny, and timely. The stuff about religion, and Plymouth, Massachusetts was tremendous, and I am totally on board with his thoughts. I howled when he climbed onto an audience member, and told him to stop being weird. The thing with the phone, and texting, that is going to be a classic bit. When he spoke about his early career stand up, and the exploits that happened, again, cackling with laughter. The bit with the souvenir he got in Cuba was great, as was his story about being in the Red Light District in Amsterdam. The whole damn thing is great.

I am a fan, so I knew that I was going to enjoy this special. I do think people who may be on the fence about him will enjoy it too. Like I said, it is wild, but he does tone it down from time to time, and does very funny stories, of which he calls back later in the special. Eric Andre is awesome, and this special is great. I highly recommend checking it out.

Ty Watches "Eric Andre Does Paris"

Eric Andre made his glorious return to Adult Swim on Sunday night with a one off special, "Eric Andre Does Paris".

This 11 minute "special" was one of the weirdest, funniest and most Eric Andre things that I could have ever dreamed of. I follow him on Instagram and Twitter, so I had an idea that a certain thing he was doing was going to make its way to TV. I didn't know what to expect though. He had some weird white suit on with a big ass hat. It was akin to watching a trailer for the show "Legion" to me. I liked what I saw, but I didn't know why, or what was going to come of it. I almost forgot about the special until I was scrolling through Instagram on Saturday and saw his page had one of his "ads" for it. I immediately recorded it and watched it Monday afternoon.

As I said, it was bizarre in the great way that only Eric Andre can pull off. The special started with him talking at his desk on his regular set saying that America was pretty messed up right now, so he was going to go to Paris. We then got a version of the opening of his regular show, where he destroys the set, but this time he was crashing planes, running through the Eiffel Tower, just his basic destruction, just in a few different locations. I was, of course, immediately on board. He then broke into the show, and it was just like any other "Eric Andre Show" episode, but this was all on the street type stuff. There were no celebrity interviews like he does on his regular show. He and his camera crew were just tooling around Paris and doing their random hilarious nonsense. He would go up to people wearing a Charlie Sheen t shirt with some French writing on it, only underwear underneath the shirt, and a crossaint attached to a stick that was dangling in front of him. Oh, he was also wearing roller skates and falling down constantly while yelling stuff like, "I'm a real French person" or, "I'm fitting in". It was riotous. He then switched to doing some on the street type interviews with French people, talking about how in Medieval times people used to just pee and poop out their windows. He then had his people superimpose pictures of Napoleon and Mona Lisa doing these acts on random people. To top this bit off, he made a fake General Insurance ad. You know the ad that I am talking about, with the tiny cartoon general singing about saving on insurance. Well, Andre made his own twisted version of this, and it was odd, but also funny. He also interviewed what seemed to be an American tourist and made him call himself "Potato Boy", and do some random dance. This bit proved to me that people will do anything to get on TV. While he was in the Charlie Sheen outfit, he kept chasing down a bald African American man and calling him Seal and asking him to sing "Kiss From a Rose". It was uncomfortably funny for me. He then jumped cut to a random shot of himself laying down in a field, far enough away from the Eiffel Tower, and pretended to pleasure himself, himself being the tower, and I have to say, it made me crack the hell up. He then cut to himself fishing in a, according to my wife, very famous canal. He kept saying he had a big one, and what he pulled out was a skeleton dressed up as Hitler. He then proceeded to tell everyone around him that he had caught Hitler and asked if they wanted to take pictures. When no one would reciprocate his questioning, he just started to drag the corpse through this lovely town in Paris. Again, it had me cracking up. He also put some cuts in this special where, whenever he was talking to, or approached by an African American man who was bald, save for the Seal guy, with the name Hannibal Burress underneath it. For those that don't know, Burress is his cohost and constant recipient of his destruction. But, Burress gives it right back. The whole thing ended with him in that weird white suit doing his usual hilarious nonsense.

I really loved this special. It made me realize how much I miss having "The Eric Andre" show on a regular basis. As you all know, I am a big fan of his show. "Eric Andre Does Paris" was great, and it made me want more. Hopefully he is filming more episodes, and hopefully it returns to TV soon. This special was a great appetizer to what I hope is a full meal coming from him soon. You definitely have to be an Eric Andre fan to appreciate this special, but if you are, and you haven't watched it yet, go watch it right now. It is trippy and bizarre and wonderful in all the best Eric Andre ways. I thought it was great.

Ty Watches "Man Seeking Woman"

I'm a big fan of the television show "Man Seeking Woman". I have watched it from the start. I was excited to see Jay Baruchel in a leading role on a sitcom. I've been a fan of his since I first saw him on "Undeclared", and the fandom only got bigger after seeing the excellent movie "Goon", and his role in "This is the End". I am also a Eric Andre fan. I think you all know this very well by now. So, I was pumped to see him in a major supporting role. Other than those 2, I hadn't really heard of anyone else that was going to be on the show, but I really have grown to like Brit Lower, she plays his sister, and the actors that play his mom and dad.

"Man Seeking Woman" has a simple premise based on a book with the same title. Jay Baruchel plays Josh, who is unlucky in love. Eric Andre is his best friend and the first two seasons were basically about their many mishaps when meeting ladies and the things that happened afterward. I thought it was great. I found the show funny, unique and very cool. They took things to the literal point on this show. In one episode, they mention going to a destination wedding, I believe I have brought this up on the podcast before, and the destination is hell. Well, the wedding is literally in hell, There are devils and demons poking and prodding people with pitchforks and everything. Most episodes are like this, and I think that it is great.

Then, when I saw promos for season 3, I saw that Josh had a steady girlfriend. I had a lot of questions going into season three. I thought, were they going to focus on Mike(Eric Andre) more? Or maybe it would be Josh's sister who got more screen time. Side note, there is an episode in season 2 where Josh's sister has an affair with Santa Claus that is so god damn good. Seriously people, go watch that episode. Maybe they would focus on the parents more. I really did not know what to expect.

I have to say, this season has been just as good, if not better than the previous 2 seasons. I know it is called "Man Seeking Woman", and the "man" now has a "woman", but that has not slowed the show down a bit. The show is just as biting and satirical and literal as it has ever been.

They did a whole unwanted citizen type theme for the season 3 premiere. Josh was staying at Lucy's(Katie Findlay, an excellent addition to the cast), his new girlfriend's apartment all the time and her roommates were fed up. So, the writers treated the whole episode as if Josh was an illegal immigrant. It was timely without the show knowing it would be timely, and it wrapped up very sweet, with Lucy leaving her cushy apartment to stay with Josh. I wish some of the monsters we have in government now would watch this episode to see how stupid they all truly are, but I know they would not get the joke.

From there on, each episode has been pretty decent. We have Lucy moving in with Josh and changing his whole place around so it suits her needs, only to realize this makes Josh upset. There was an episode where Lucy and Josh get into a fight and Josh escapes to Mike's "Bro Island", that was hilarious. There was an episode that showed the way different age groups act, like Millennials and Baby Boomers. They have the whole meeting the parents thing, which was a real standout this year, especially the episode where Josh meets Lucy's parents. I loved the whole "Where the Wild Things Are" theme they used.

Then we have this past Wednesday's show. It was real, real good. Josh and Mike are playing video games, and Mike inadvertently looks at Josh's phone for some info. As soon as he unlocks the screen, he sees that Josh has an article up about asking your girlfriend to have, and I'm not being gross, this was what came up, anal sex. Mike is thrilled, but he says that this is something you have to ask the Father of your girlfriend if it is okay, a la marriage. There is a great scene following that when Mike gets Josh's sister involved in the debate, and she agrees with Mike. So, Josh asks, Lucy's mom and dad say that they've been waiting for this day, then nonchalantly, Mike asks Lucy's parents if he can propose marriage to her, and they kind of blow it off and say sure. It was funny. The rest of the episode focuses on how much anxiety something like proposing can cause, and they never touch on the anal sex thing again. I loved that they showed how much terror the person asking someone else to marry them go through. I also love how they show the one being proposed to is overly prepared and just wants it to happen, no matter what. It was a very good 22 minutes of TV.

With all that being said, my fears that the show wouldn't be as edgy or literal as it was for 2 seasons were for naught. It is just as funny, takes just as many chances and the addition of Lucy was an absolute grand slam. I'm a big, big fan of this show and I think many more would be to if they gave it a shot. Go check "Man Seeking Woman" out, it is well worth your time.

Ty Watches the Eric Andre Show: Season 4 Finale

I know that I'm a week late, I was hyper focused on basketball last week, but I'm back to recap the zaniness that was the season 4 finale of "The Eric Andre Show".

This episode started as most, with Andre destroying the set. He did his usual stuff after his name was announced. He trashed his set. He tackled his drummer and destroyed his kit. He beat the stuff up that was sitting on the set. But, at one point, he stopped, and talked two guys down from beating each other up. He stopped everything that he was doing and that these 2 guys were doing, and became a mediator of sorts. He told the 2 gentlemen that everything was going to be fine, and that they did not need to fight anymore. After they shook hands, Andre told them he was proud of their progress, then he proceeded to finish his destruction.

After all that, Andre sat down and Hannibal Buress was introduced. He came and sat down, and Andre got up to do his monologue. He said some nonsense, and then the show went to a pre taped segment.

This time around, Andre was dressed like the Ranch Dude, but he walked into a karate studio and kept saying, over and over again, "time to deliver a pizza ball!", and he literally had a ball of pizza. Any time that one of the patrons of the karate place came up to talk to him, he would say his catchphrase. This made the people at the studio furious. The leader of the place started to threaten Andre. He picked up some kind of a karate stick and challenged Andre to a fight. Andre did not back down, saying his catchphrase again and again, until he finally realized that the leader was not going to back down, so he left. This was one of the better skits ever. I have been walking around my house for a week now saying, "time to deliver a pizza ball!", much to my wife and kids chagrin.

We then go back to the set, and they introduce the first guest, Jack Black. Black seemed down for anything. He didn't look like he knew what was going to happen, but he rolled with all the punches. He answered all the weird questions and put up with all the usual nonsense. Finally, Andre busted out 2 cans of whip cream and asked Black if he wanted to do whip its with him, and he obliged. They did their whip its and some weird stuff happened after that. Black was foaming whip cream at the mouth. Andre seemed normal, but he was about to pull some stunts on Black.

First though, they went to another pre taped segment, and it was Andre walking around, dressed as a construction worker with a big piece of metal sticking out of his chest. He was stumbling around and asking people if they knew where the hospital was, or if they could help him get home, or give him a ride, anything to get people's attention basically. It was disturbing, yet funny.

They went back to the Jack Black interview, and at one point, Andre's coffee cup started to spurt out coffee. Black nearly jumped out of his seat. Andre just sat there and calmly said, "this thing is broken". I think his calmness freaked out Black even more. The coffee cup shot out more coffee, and Black ran out of the room.

Don't worry, he comes back, and this time, after explaining that his brain felt fried from the whip its, Andre and Buress attached a lie detector test to him, and they tell him that any time he lies, he will get shocked. They ask some easy questions, but any answer Black gives, they shock him. He keeps yelling at Buress and Andre that this is ridiculous, and that he wants out. They push it a bit further, but they finally let Black leave the stage.

After Black, they have Jeanette McCurdy on. I did not know who she was, but my wife told me that she was a Disney Channel actor. Anyway, Andre begins the interview asking random questions about acting, and nude photos surfacing. She claims that is not true, but he pulls out a picture, but it is his same one from all season, of a photo shopped nude photo of Obama. McCurdy laughs it off. I was surprised by her attitude, but it soon changed. After this, Andre started to push. He got right in her face, told her he was not in a good place, and kept telling her that he loved her. McCurdy was definitely put off by this, answering him calmly, but looking extremely uncomfortable. She immediately left after this interaction.

Finally, something we have all been waiting for, Andre finally got to investigate the band 311. This has been a long running joke on the show for all 4 seasons. He is always talking about investigating and interrogating 311, Well, he finally got his chance. The band was playing one of their songs, but they were all tied up or put in some kind of interrogation type situation. The lead singer kept getting shocked, the drummer couldn't drum, the bass player was bound and the other singer and lead guitarist was tied up and eventually water boarded. It was totally worth the wait. It was all done in jest of course, but man was it hilarious and totally worth the wait. At one point, when both the singers could not sing, T-Pain came out and started singing for them. The episode, and thus, season 4, ended.

This was a great season of "The Eric Andre Show". It was bizarre, odd, gross, disturbing, but above all else, hilarious. I love this show. I love Eric Andre and Hannibal Buress and Adult Swim for putting this show on TV. I cannot wait for season 5 and you better believe that I will be back to recap all the episodes for everyone. What a great season of this great show.

Ty Watches the "Eric Andre Show" Season 4 Episode 9

This past Friday, "The Eric Andre Show" was as great, and as weird, as ever. The show started the same. Andre ransacked the stage. He did his usual destruction of the set. He crushed his drummer and his drummers kit. He absolutely destroyed his desk. He, at one point, was in a fight with a kung fu master, and when he went to hit the kung fu guy, it turned out that he was in a hall of mirrors, a la "Enter the Dragon". Andre loves doing this destruction, and I love to watch it as well.

Hannibal Buress didn't have any fancy entrance this time around, he just walked to stage and sat down. When they were both sitting, Andre asked Buress what to do next, and Buress told him to do the monologue. Andre walked up to the microphone, but when he started to speak, he started to see visions, some weird music played, and Andre fell into a black hole. It was bizarre. When he finally came to, Andre was freaking out, yelling nonsense and looked terrified. When the camera panned over to Buress, he stated, "knock it off with this Burning Man shit!", and the screen cut to the freeze frame "we'll be right back".

They then cut to a pre taped segment featuring the Ranch Dude. Andre's outfit was ridiculous. He had on a Madonna cone bra, a Dr. Seuss hat, some big boots, wild sunglasses and a bikini bottom that looked like a beaver. The back of the bikini was not keeping anything secret. Andre was fully exposed from behind, as usual. The Ranch dude then went on to ask people if they wanted a hit off his ranch bong, he played a fake double guitar and claimed some random guy on the street as his dad. He continued to walk around downtown New York saying completely random things to random strangers. This bit is always funny.

The next part of the show had their first guest. Haley Joel Osment. He came out on stage and looked immediately put off. I don't know if the people that come on realize that this is all a joke, Flavor Flav, I'm taking to you, but Andre is trying to make people uncomfortable. Osment was definitely uncomfortable. Andre was saying random things about how there are no rules on his show. He ripped a piece of paper with the word rules on it, he threw that same piece of paper through a fake window, he then broke a piece of glass with the word rules on it. He did it all. Osment jumped when Andre broke the glass. Then, Andre said they were cutting to a clip from Osment's new movie, but it was a clip of a cow giving birth. Osment was totally put off. Both Andre and Buress made fun of Shamalayn movies. It was a great Eric Andre interview.

Once Osment left the stage, there was another pre taped skit that had Andre walking around a park, dressed like a park ranger. He also had a massive head wound. He was stumbling around telling people that he needed to give a speech, but first, he had to find his falcon. People were legitimately trying to help him, so Andre tried to make them uncomfortable, as he is want to do. He started to tell people that he was a Subway spokesman, and he wanted them to make the bread out of used yoga mats. He kept saying namaste to everyone. At one point, he also peed fake blood. This turned people off right away.

After the park ranger bit, we got our next guest, Dennis Rodman. Man oh man, Dennis Rodman is in tough shape. He was immediately sweating when he got on stage. His words were unintelligible. He kept patting away makeup because of the sweat. He kept deflecting questions about his friendship with Kim Jong Un. At one point, Andre started to have a "dance contest", and instead of getting involved, Rodman started to beat box on the table and egg on Andre. Andre kept going while Buress stood still. Rodman was completely incoherent and either drunk, stoned or both. He looks really, really bad. Near the end of the "dance contest", Buress finally started to dance vigorously. This led to another freeze frame "we'll be right back" screen.

This led us to our final pre taped sketch, and I swear it made me feel like I was on drugs. Andre was dressed like an octopus, but the 8 arms were filled with 8 little people. Andre had some weird voice, and the little people kept talking over him when they entered a fancy restaurant. It was loud, trippy, weird and bizarre. The restaurants patrons were terrified. Andre and crew got kicked out pretty quick. This was the weirdest bit I have ever seen on the show.

When they went back to the set, their final guest was David Alan Thicke. It was Alan Thicke and David Alan Grier dressed in an oversized shirt and singing some nonsense song. Andre and Buress were, at first, looking at this like it was stupid, but they quickly got into it. The end of the show was like an "SNL" ending with rolling credits and everyone smiling and hanging on stage.

This was a very odd, but still, very funny episode. Come back next week for the next review.

Ty Watches the "Eric Andre Show" Season 4 Episode 8

Man oh man, what a weird, wild and hilarious episode of "The Eric Andre Show" this past Friday. This episode was full on crazy, in a good way. I loved how absolutely nuts the whole thing was.

The show opened as usual. Andre destroyed the set. He beat up the drummer and his kit. Some weird stuff happened between Andre and the "Hannibal 9000" robot. Instead of breaking the metal shelf this time, Andre used it as a jumping off point and crushed his desk. It was the usual insanity that I have grown to enjoy with every open. After all this, Hannibal Buress was introduced, and he showed up on stage on a "magic carpet". It looked pretty ragged, and there were a few times that I thought Buress was going to fall off. After Buress took his seat, Andre said something to him, it was so quiet, I couldn't understand, and he approached the microphone to do his monologue. Once again, instead of a traditional monologue, Andre berated Buress. He was saying mean and hurtful stuff to try and get under Buress' skin. Throughout the whole monologue, Buress said nothing. This made Andre angry, so he pushed even further. Buress finally responded, but he was saying inspirational stuff, and he said he wouldn't let Andre take him down. Then, at the very end of the monologue, after being so upbeat, Buress finally stooped to Andre's level, and insulted him right back. We then got the freeze frame, "we'll be right back" screen.

Next, they jumped to a pre taped segment, introducing the character that wants to be the Sprite spokesman. This bit started out with a focus group debating the Android and iPhone, then all of the sudden, Andre crashed through the roof, with a parachute that didn't fully work. He got up and started to stumble around, asking everyone if this was the Sprite building. This bit is bizarre, but also hilarious. The people in the focus group were terrified, and then they were pushed to anger. One guy was psychically trying to remove Andre from the room. The whole time, Andre just kept saying that he just wants to be the spokesman for Sprite. Then, at the very end, his head popped off, and a bunch of Sprite was shooting from his neck.

Cut to the main stage and they introduced their first guest, Chris Jericho. Jericho literally said 4 words before this interview went off the rails. He walked to his seat, heard the fake audience, and spoke his 4 words, "where is the audience?". Then, Andre went into the interview, and asked his first question. The question was just Andre screaming in the air. He was saying nothing. During this, Buress was eating a sandwich, very sloppily, and making weird noises the whole time, and Jericho looked legitimately confused. He stood up, and walked off the set. That was the shortest, and most bizarre interview I have ever seen on the show.

They cut to another pre taped segment called "Judge Eric" after that. Andre was dressed like a judge, and he walked into a sandwich shop and ordered a sandwich, but used judge terms while ordering. He also had a gavel with him. After finishing his order, Andre started to smash the glass in the shop with his gavel. The patrons were all freaked out by this, and a police officer showed up. But, the police officer was an actor friend of Andre's, and while he was bringing order back to the shop, he pulled out his "member". This freaked out the patrons more than before. Instead of being worried himself, Andre walked out with the "police officer", and said that he ruled that he did not want the sandwich anymore. The look of horror on the other people's faces as they walked out was priceless.

We then got out next guest, Roy Hibbert. Hibbert is an NBA player, and Andre asked him some nonsense questions about being a basketball player. Hibbert tried to answer, but was immediately thrown off when Andre stripped fully nude. Hibbert told him that he wouldn't answer anymore questions until he put clothes on, but Andre wouldn't listen. He kept pushing and pushing, and Buress was doing some virtual reality stuff, and the "Hannibal 9000" even showed up for a minute. Hibbert grabbed a bat and was using it to shoo away Andre. Hibbert was as freaked out as Jericho was earlier. Needless to say, he walked, more so ran, off the stage.

After this interview, they cut to a new segment that had Andre walking around downtown New York, holding a mattress with the words "BED BUGS!" written in permanent marker on it. He kept asking people if they would take the matress from him, and basically throwing it at random strangers on the subway or in the streets. I loved this.

We got our last guest after this bit. The final guest was Flavor Flav. This may be a first, but Flav was more bizarre and less coherent than Andre has ever been on the show. He was talking all nonsense. He was making no sense. So, Andre decided to strip nude again, and Flav became enraged by this. He told everyone on set that he was going to beat them up. He kept running away from Andre. At one point, they cut to Buress kicking a doll version of Flav in the face.

After all this insanity, we got to the final segment, and instead of having a guest, Flavor Flav and a guy dressed in a green screen, skin tight suit having a dance off. This, again all from Flav, was so weird. Flav was dancing and moving around, as was the other person, but it was so bizarre.

This episode was incredibly nuts, but one of the best of the show that I have ever seen. It was bizarre and weird and disgusting and hilarious in all the right ways. This was excellent. Go watch Flavor Flav because he has clearly lost his mind, and it was very prevelent during this most recent episode of "The Eric Andre Show". Man, what a great episode.

Ty Watches the "Eric Andre Show" Season 4 Episode 7

This most recent episode of the "Eric Andre Show" started off like most of them do. He attacked the stage with his usual vigor, and crushed pretty much everything in site. He did tackle the drummer this time, and proceeded to destroy the drummer's kit. He also ran into metal shelves again, like last week. He absolutely just demolished everything in site. It was glorious. Then, they put new set pieces in, and Andre sat down at his chair, out of breath. Hannibal Buress was introduced. He walked on stage, and took his seat. When Andre approached the stage to do his monologue, I was hoping for some hilarity. He got to the microphone, but didn't say a word. He sat there, looked angry and then proceeded to lash out and attack Buress. He started to slap him and yell at him. It was all fake, obviously, but I was rolling with laughter. Buress started to fight back, and the two of them got into a slap fight. I was hoping for hilarity, and I got exactly what I wanted. I loved this "monologue".

During the slap fight, they did their famous freeze screen with the words, "we'll be right back" frozen in mid slap. They then cut to a pre taped segment. This segment showed the return of the 2 person horse. This time, the two person horse entered a subway car. In the front, we could see that it was a female, I believe it was comedian Michelle Buteau, and Andre was in the rear. When they entered the subway car, Buteau immediately began to moan. It was all very bizarre, but I found myself laughing. Then, Andre would appear from the back, and he would say some of the most foul things I have ever heard to the passengers. It was gross and shocking and funny. They did this for about 2 minutes, and I was laughing the whole time.

Back to the stage and they introduced their first guest, Raymond Cruz. Cruz, for those that don't know, played Tuco on "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul". During the interview, some weird stuff happened, but Cruz just smiled and rolled with the punches. He was a very pleasant guest. At one point, Buress said he had to go, and they replaced him with a robot they called the "Hannibal 9000". Cruz didn't bat an eye. At one point Kraft Punk showed up, and Cruz talked to him. Andre's desk gave "birth" to a smaller desk, and instead of leaving the stage like most guests usually do, Cruz made jokes. I thought this was Andre's best interview, and it happened all by chance.

After the Cruz interview was done, they went to another pre taped segment called "Mail Man Eric". This segment had Andre in a fat suit and found him getting caught in mailboxes. He would scream for help, but onlookers either paid him no mind, or they yelled at him and called him names. It was funny, but also a little sad.

Once we got back to the main stage and the next guest, Amber Rose, was brought out. She was put off immediately. She thought the stage was too dirty. Andre kept asking for her phone number and address. Andre repeatedly picked his nose. He kept claiming that she had a single, and was singing words from a song that didn't exist. Rose did not care for the "Hannibal 9000". This was your typical Eric Andre interview. He gets someone that isn't famous, but thinks they are, and he makes them as uncomfortable as he possibly can. I love when he does this, and this was no exception. This was all very funny.

We then get to see the "Ranch Dude" in the final pre taped segment. This is my all time favorite Andre character. I love how weird and downright stupid this character is. He wears goofy clothes and says goofy things. He asked random people if he could air DJ in their free space. He kept asking people if they wanted a hit off his ranch bottle. He would say complete nonsense that made passerby's uncomfortable. This character is an Eric Andre staple. I get very excited when I see the "Ranch Dude" show up. In fact, in New York, they opened up a ranch dispensary. Go look it up, it is hilarious and a great take on weed dispensaries.

After this last pre taped bit, they had their musical guest, Thundercat, come out on stage. I'm a huge Thundercat fan, so I was pumped to see him on the show. This time around, Thundercat has been on a bunch, they had him do a bass off against the "Hannibal 9000". This was so funny. Thundercat would play something totally funky and awesome, and the "Hannibal 9000" would do nothing. Then, at one point, the "Hannibal 9000"'s "dad" showed up, and all he had on was a collared shirt and a tie, nothing below the waist. This man came up and hugged Thundercat during the bass off, and Thundercat was laughing, but you could tell he was uncomfortable.

This was a very good episode of the "Eric Andre Show". In fact, this whole season has been great. Come back next week for the next review.

Ty Watches the "Eric Andre Show" Season 4 Episode 6

This past Friday's "Eric Andre Show" was one of the weirder ones I have ever seen, and that is saying something, because his show is weird and wonderful. He did his thing during introduction, but as he went to tackle his drummer, he stopped short, and then proceeded to shake all the band members hands and give them praise. He then proceeded to destroy shelves on an aluminum built rack. He actually ran through the middle of two of them. While destroying the stage, pro skater Tony Hawk showed up and did some tricks, and also helped Andre wreck the stage. The two of them were doing damage. A guy dressed like a mummy came on the stage and went on to choke Andre with some of his wrapping. After that, Tony Hawk started to beat up Andre. Andre exclaimed, "why are you doing this? I thought we were friends", but Hawk just kept pummeling him. After all this, Andre threw a vase, and the destruction was over. Then, Hannibal Buress shot out from the top of the ceiling right into his chair. After all that, Andre got on stage and did his monologue. It was all nonsense and bizarre and funny. It even included a "Looper" reference, that was hilarious. I have really enjoyed the addition of the monologues this season.

After the monologue, the first guest, Warren G, came on stage. Warren G looked confused from the start. First off, Andre proclaimed that he was a rapper, and started to freestyle. It was terrible, on purpose, and Warren G was not impressed. Andre made Buress freestyle, and his rapping was worse than Andre's, and louder. Warren G was dumbfounded. Then, my new favorite character, Kraft Punk showed up. He came out on fire, throwing cheese slices at Andre and Buress. We then cut to his new pre taped segment, "The Kraftolor". It was like "The Bachelor", but Kraft Punk would show up in a random café, tell people that he could not die, then ask ladies if they would be his "cheese wife". I LOVED this. It was hilarious. Kraft Punk was ushered off stage, as usual, and then Andre asked Warren G if he would do adult stuff with Martha Stewart. Warren G paused, and then said yeah, with a huge smile on his face. The show then cut to a picture of Martha Stewart.

We then got another pre taped segment, where it starts out like an "And 1" mixtape video, but then it turns out that Andre is playing a dad whose son is flying away on a balloon. The guys playing basketball did not care for all this nonsense. They wanted him off the court, and they kept asking how little his baby was, if 4 helium balloons could carry it away. During this segment, the camera kept cutting back to Andre, and he was asking ridiculously ludicrous questions to himself, but the show made it seem deep. It was weird and funny. There was also an early pre taped segment, that took place in a café of some sort, and some wacky hijinks went on. It was bizarre, but in a good way.

After Warren G leaves the set, the next guest that comes on is Kelly Osbourne. She is immediately turned off by everything that Andre is doing. He asked ridiculous questions, he has a PA fly into his desk, thus crushing it, he speaks in an English accent, but he just says lines from the movie "Austin Powers" and he tells her that he heard that her dad was famous for eating animal feces. She is so angry at him, and at one point she says a very bad thing, and Andre runs with it. He puts up pictures with her face and the quote, and Kelly Osbourne is made very upset by all this. I thought it was hilarious. I won't type the quote, but go look it up online, or watch the episode, it makes her look really bad.

The show cuts to another pre taped segment, where Andre bursts out of a dryer at a laundry mat, covered in goo, and keeps asking people what year is it. The patrons are not amused. I was cracking up. He keeps pushing and pushing until one guy physically pushes him out of the laundry mat. The segment then turns into a "TV" show that Andre is making called "Alien Dad". He goes back into the laundry mat to tell people he just wants to find his kid, but they are not buying it. Once again, he gets shoved out a second time.

After all this, instead of having a musical guest on, they have comedian Jim Norton come on to do some jokes. But, the rub with this bit, Norton is hooked to an electrical shock machine, and any loud noise causes him to get shocked. He is doing fine at first, but then Andre sends out some angry, barking German Shepard's, and a lot of other noise causing things. Norton looks like he is in a world of pain by the end of the bit.

This was one of the more unusual episodes, as I said at the top, but I still was laughing throughout. Warren G is one of the first people that I haven't seen walk off during the first interview also. He was a good sport. There are only a few episodes left in this season, but I will be here to review the rest for you when they are on. Come back next week for the next one.

Ty Watches the "Eric Andre Show" Season 4 Episode 5

After a one week hiatus, "The Eric Andre Show" was back this past Friday. This one started as usual, with the announcer saying Andre's name, and he proceeded to run at the stage, with intentions to destroy, but before he could crash the stage, he slipped into a portal. This wouldn't allow him to trash the stage, at first. But, after floating through the portal for a minute, he was dropped back on the stage, and this was when he proceeded to do his usual damage. He crushed his desk. He attacked the band. He threw vases and pots. His other new wrinkle this week, there was a guy dressed like a scientist that looked to be doing some blood work. Andre found this man and repeatedly punched him in the face. Just when you thought the bit was going to end, it went on for an extra 10 to 15 seconds. This is one of the things I love about Eric Andre, his willingness to push a bit too its outer most limits.

After the destruction, Hannibal Buress was announced, and he entered the stage on a kayak attached to a pallet of wood. Buress has been making some pretty cool entrances this season. After Buress exited the kayak, Andre started his monologue. This time around, very angrily, Andre just kept saying "joke, joke, joke, punchline", over and over again. He did this a few times, and Buress started to laugh. After Buress was filmed laughing, the band was laughing and so was the studio audience. Andre ate this up. Buress proclaimed that he figured out the secret to comedy. Andre continued with the words, "joke, joke, joke, punchline", and some dancers came on the stage. They were talking gibberish that was overlapped with Andre's words. Then, Penn Jillette entered the stage and said the words, "magic, magic, magic, atheism" over and over again. All the talking was overlapped, and, much like the opening with the scientist, the bit was pushed to the very edge.

Before they introduced the first guest, they immediately cut to a pre taped segment. This segment was called "Grocery Goofs". It was meant to be a blooper type show, a la "America's Funniest Home Videos", but it had Andre's twist to it. Instead of being a blooper show, when a customer entered and tried to buy a juice, Andre told him it cost 47 dollars. The customer was confused, but that was just the start. This was the only "blooper" type thing because right after charging way too much for a juice, Andre emerged from behind the counter, wearing nothing except a T shirt. This was very awkward for the customer. Andre kept talking to the customer like nothing was weird at all, but then we see another man, fully nude, emerge from behind the counter. Andre tells the customer that this guy is his "sex slave", and the customer can't leave fast enough. Andre tries to make it hard for the man to leave, but the guy makes his way out. It was all meant to be a spoof, but it was still disturbing and hilarious, two things only Eric Andre can pull off.

Then, we get back to the show, and they introduce their first guest, actor Jesse Williams. The interview was weird, as always, and at one point, Andre tells Williams that the interview is going to become extreme, and he straps some head gear on Williams that is fully equipped with 5 or 6 Go Pro's, and the camera it shot from Williams point of view. It was very shaky and nauseating, and when Williams noticed that Andre was trying to have a bowel movement on his desk, that was when he decided to leave.

Next up was the Brotendo segment. This was weird and wild, as always. Andre would approach people on the street, I should mention that he wears a bikini top, a Dr. Seuss hat, weird sunglasses and super high top boots, and says nonsense to them like, "I just got my crystal meth medical card", or " I just returned from Burning Man and it just isn't the same anymore". This time around, he had a fake double guitar, and pretended to shred in front of many confused onlookers.

They then cut back to the set and they had their second guest, Jillian Barberi on. This interview went off the rails quick. Andre started to complain about his messed up desk, and he ripped the top off to reveal a little person dressed like him and another little person that looked like Jillian Barberi. Not to be outdone, Hannibal Buress had a person that was dressed just like him as well. They were all talking over one another, saying the same thing. Barberi was very quickly turned off, saying it was like an acid trip, and she left the stage.

We are then transported back to their "Grocery Goofs" segment, but this time, it focused on the fully nude man, saying he was hosting a show for hostages. He tried to interview people, and as to be expected, they all turned him away. It was gross and weird, but still, it made me laugh.

At the end Andre had a rapper and a professional eater do a rap battle, while also having a hot dog eating contest. The rapper continually vomited and the eater was a terrible rapper. It was pretty funny actually. I don't like throwing up personally, but I find humor in others doing it, especially on TV.

The show ended there, and it was great to have "The Eric Andre Show" back after its short hiatus. I love his weird humor and I very much looked forward to watching the next episode. There will be another new episode this Friday, so come back next week for my review.

Ty Watches the "Eric Andre Show": Season 4 Episode 4

This past Friday there was a new "The Eric Andre Show", and I am here today to review the craziness for everyone. This was, in a long line, another great episode.

The opening was the usual. Andre attacked the stage with his usual vigor. This time, he did the usual stuff, like trashing his sign, tackling the drummer and destroying his desk. But, he added some new things, as he does with every opening. He did some gross autoerotic affixiation stuff while destroying the stage. He also did a spoof of the Hardees commercials, you know the ones I'm talking about with the models cleaning cars, then eating burgers, but this time it was Andre dressed in a bikini top and cut off jean shorts. It was wildly disgusting, but also hilarious. He kept pouring soapy water all over himself, so much to the point that he choked on a little bit of it. I found myself cracking up, especially when the creepy stage hand kept licking his lips.

Then, the show started. They put the new stage up, and Andre sat down. Burress was introduced, but instead of coming from the curtains, as he usually does, he rose from the ground, a la a vampire rising from the coffin. Then Andre started his monologue. This time around, he straight up attacked Burress. It was all in good fun, but Burress, with his usual deadpan delivery, kept giving it right back to Andre. Andre wouldn't let up, and this all turned into a bit about the Bible. Andre claimed it was the one thing that could save you, but in usual Andre bits, there was a pistol inside the Bible, and he faked shot himself.

Next, they started the interview process. I know all this sounds crazy, but this is very usual stuff in every episode of this show. The first guest was Tichina Arnold. Many of you know her as Martin Lawrence's girlfriend's friend from the show, "Martin", but she is still acting. Andre asked a lot of uncomfortable questions, and put Arnold in weird situations. At one point, Burress put on glasses and a goofy mouth piece, and proceeded to do his best Austin Powers impression. This was immediately dismissed, with Burress screaming, "why do you guys make me do this stupid shit!". I loved it, Arnold was horrified. Then, Andre proclaimed that they were cutting to darkness, and the whole stage went black. They kept going with the interview, but the audience could see nothing, except for flashes of light, and a guy dressed as a Yeti. The Yeti kept getting closer to Arnold, to her total oblivion, and when she finally turned, she let out one of the loudest screams I think I have ever heard. I was howling with laughter.

They then cut to a pre taped segment called "Officer Eric". This segment had Andre dressed as a parking meter officer. He would go up to random strangers, tell them that they were illegally parked, but instead of giving them a ticket, he would start to pee on their car. I don't think it was real pee, but it very well could have been after watching this show for three plus years now. He did this to many people, and they all got very angry, or just upset. One guy chased him down the street, and Andre ran away, peeing the whole time. Another guy just kept asking him, "why are doing this?", over and over again. They did this segment twice during the episode, and it was very funny each time.

They had their second guest on, Steve Schrippa, from "The Sopranos", and this interview was doomed from the beginning. Schrippa was not amused by any of Andre's or Burress' actions. Andre handed him some walnuts to crack with his bare hands, which he did. But, then Andre handed him some ice to crack barehanded. Schrippa was not amused. They pushed him on what he is doing now, claiming that he was an irrelevant actor. Schrippa was growing more angry and sweaty by the minute. He claimed that he had a new spaghetti sauce, and Andre said he wanted to do a commercial for it. Schrippa reluctantly agreed, and then Andre had a naked PA come on stage to do the commercial with a gun pointed at his face. The PA, pretending to be scared, proceeded with the pre written commercial, and at one point, he was told to "put your balls in the sauce". He did, and this set Schrippa off. He went off on Andre. Andre poked him a little more, and started to ask his groin questions. Schrippa started to physically attack him, ending with him pushing Andre off a chair.

This led to the last pre taped segment, where Andre was in the middle of a pole rigged system, that had four other dummies, dressed exactly like Andre. He roamed the streets asking random strangers if they could figure out which one was the real person. This led to Andre walking into a porn store, asking for the best material to pleasure himself to. The owner kept asking him to leave, and Andre pushed until they had to kick him out. At this point, Andre was pushed out of the store, but he got stuck in between two of his mannequins. I loved this segment.

They ended the show with musician Ariel Pink. But, they kept adding things to his song. They dumped mud on him. They brought out a fake boy band to dance with him. They did a bunch of stuff, including Burress wearing a blond wig and a weed covered onesie, made him sing, and they called him Ariel Black. This made Ariel Pink attempt to tackle Andre, but Andre dove out of the way.

Once again, it was a bizarrely hilarious episode. I loved it. I loved the new segments. It was great. The show is taking one week off, for the holiday, but it will be back next week, and so will I. "The Eric Andre" show has been so good this season so far. I can't wait for more episodes.

Ty Watches the Eric Andre Show: Season 4 Episode 3

This past Friday there was another new episode of "The Eric Andre Show". This one started out as usual. Andre's name was announced, and then he proceeded to destroy the set. He jumped through the brown and orange rectangular sign behind the couch. He ran after the band again, but this time, he took the drummers kick drum and trashed that. Not to worry, he still tackled his drummer. The band, this time around, didn't seem to worry too much about the destruction. They actually played heavier music. The band this season also features all very old gentlemen, I don't know if I mentioned this yet. To go along with his usual destruction, he added some new, very gory stuff. It was your typical opening for the show, with new wrinkles, as usual.

Hannibal Burress was introduced as the co host and Andre proceeded with his monologue. This is new to this season. He did monologues very sporadically before this season, but every episode so far, he has done one. Each monologue shows Andre strife with anger. He clearly, at least his character clearly, doesn't want to do these. This time around, after a minute or two of gibberish, a cartoon snake with sunglasses and a guitar appeared. Andre loved it, Burress hated it. What made it funny, and made it work, the viewing audience could see the bar and tennis ball that they used for "CGI" during this segment. When the snake appeared, Andre cheered him on and asked him to play some tunes. The snake did, but it also hurled insults at Burress throughout. This made Burress angry. When the second guitar playing snake appeared, Burress knocked the tennis ball of the bar and threw the bar to the ground. They immediately cut to a taped segment after this.

The taped segment found a lady at an internet café, trying to login to one of the available computers. When she sat down, Andre, dressed as a robot, busted through the table, and harassed her. He accused her of looking at adult material, but then said he was a spokesperson for Braazars. The lady was terrified, but the joke landed.

Once the taped segment ended, they cut back to the studio and Howie Mandel was introduced as the first guest. He was immediately thrown off by the dirtiness of the chair that was provided for him. I know that they made it filthy on purpose because Mandel is a well known germaphobe. He refused to sit in the chair. Andre started the interview, but he just simply made fun of Mandel the whole time. He also asked him if he was a cousin of a famous violinist, I don't remember the name, Mandel said he was, and Andre asked him, "what's it like being related to a f*&%ing nerd!". The "studio audience" erupted with laughter, so did Burress and Andre, but Mandel was not amused. He walked off the stage, as most first guests of the show do.

Next up, they cut to another pre taped segment, where Andre played a character named Mike Penis. He had his hair in a weird style, kept yelling his name, saying he could get into any club and that he was named after his father. Well, he couldn't get into any club. He was consistently pushed away. He also angered many people by simply yelling his name. It was so bizarre, but I found myself cracking up the entire time.

The second interview was with "Basketball Wives" "star", Malaysia Pargo. She was immediately turned off by the fact that Andre was using a juicer in his desk that malfunctioned and shot celery juice all over her boots. She claimed they were very expensive, but he and Burress just laughed at her. Then, the chairs they were sitting on were attached to a mechanical device that lifted them in the air. Pargo was freaking out, but Andre kept asking questions. After they got back to ground level, the interview continued, but was interrupted when Burress' military "brother" showed up and yelled at Burress the whole time. He then turned his anger to Pargo. This confused and frightened her, and she left the stage.

Oh, I forgot to mention the other pre taped segment from earlier. When Mandel was still on, Kraft Punk came on stage. I have mentioned this character before. Once again, Burress and Andre harass him until he leaves the stage, but before he goes, he says he has a new segment. He calls it "Kraft Punk'd", and he goes out to outdoor pick up basketball games and steals the ball, dunks it in a bucket of cheese and finishes the "prank" off by making a basket with the cheese covered ball. The players look disgusted with him, but, once again, I was cracking up.

To end the show, they introduce DJ Flying Lotus. But, instead of playing music, they have him check his email. They act like it is very hip and fun, but Flying Lotus literally just checks his email. After a minute or so, Burress' "brother" shows up again, and berates Flying Lotus. It was all the bizarre wonderfulness that I have come to love about "The Eric Andre Show". come back next week for my review of this coming Friday's episode.

Ty Watches the Eric Andre Show: Season 4 Episode 2

This past Friday there was another new episode of the "Eric Andre Show", and I'm here today to review it. This episode started like the older episodes normally do. This time around, Andre, after his name was announced, proceeded to destroy his stage. He ran on camera, screaming. It was just like every other season. Andre ran on his desk and crushed it. He ran through the signs on set and destroyed those too. He did one of my old favorites, and tackled the drummer to his band, while the rest of the band continued playing with terrified looks on their faces. There was a guy dressed as Abraham Lincoln that proceeded to kick the crap out of Eric Andre. It was all familiar, and great.

After the destruction, Hannibal Burress was introduced and Andre went into his monologue. This time, Andre was just yelling random stuff at the screen while Burress sat back and harassed him the whole time. It was very funny.

They then introduced their first guest, Stacey Dash. Dash was in Clueless 20 years ago and today she is another hate merchant on Fox News. She is a horrible, horrible person. She has stupid and incoherent views on politics, and just life in general. Andre knows this, and he pushed her with questions. He asked her about abortion and showed her doctored pictures of President Obama. Andre was pushing her buttons, and it was all uncomfortable and hilarious. Then, the camera panned down and we saw three very big mice walking on the floor. One of the mice walked across Dash's foot and she freaked out. I was laughing very hard at this. She was so scared, she leapt on Burress' back. She then walked off stage, terrified.

Once Dash and her horribleness left, Andre cut to some more of his pre filmed segments that he does on every episode. One had him selling bites of Chinese food on a New York subway. This was awkward and weird and funny, as usual. Another segment was Andre doing his, "Eric Andre on the Street" interviews. He would try to interview people, but most of them physically pushed him away. This made the segment turn into something new called, "FU TV". During this, Andre went off and yelled at his camera men and kept telling them to stop filming him. He showered them with curse words and made them run very far with him, but he was doing all of this in front of people, to see how they'd react. They all acted as you would expect, with shock and awe. Andre brought a classic back for the third segment, the Brotendo guy. This is a douchey character that Andre plays, that talks to random strangers about very random and very weird things. He also wears a very bright green shirt, with the nipples cut out, and tells crazy stories to people on the street. He acts like he knows these people, but they have no clue, making this that much more funny. This is one of my favorite side characters that he plays on the show.

They then went to their second guest, Jack MacBrayer. He is friends with Andre, but even he seemed to be very confused by everything that was going on. He was hesitant to answer questions. He looked uncomfortable. He kept asking Andre if he was okay. Then, at one point, a stage hand brought out some gray colored food and Andre offered it as a snack. MacBrayer declined, but Andre indulged himself. They had a conversation about how it's not good to just eat food put in front of you, but to end it off, a guy painted completely white busted out of Andre's desk. This made MacBrayer jump out of his seat. The guy said some gibberish and took off. MacBrayer was utterly confused. He was about to leave the stage when another stage hand came on to check his microphone, but it was just another person sent to make MacBrayer squirm. The guy kept touching him, instead of checking his mic. MacBrayer had enough, and he walked off the stage. At this point, we see Stacey Dash again, this time pulling back a curtain and saying that she found some more mice.

To end the show, Andre had some of his rapper buddies play a game called "Rapper Ninja Warrior". He had three or four guys come out on stage, blindfolded, and made them freestyle to a beat he created while dodging soiled underwear, an inflatable ball, a guy dressed as an American Gladiator, and finally, an inflatable pool with real snakes in it. To top all this off, Andre also had an electrical shock stick, which he used on every rapper. This was, like everything else on the show, was weird, but funny. One of the rappers totally wiped out in the snake pit. Another rapper ran off the balance beam, this resulting in a shock from Andre. Another guy got knocked off by the gladiator. Just typical "Eric Andre Show" stuff.

This was another great way to spend 11 minutes. I love this show, and I will be back next Monday with the review of the newest episode coming this Friday.
